Assays from Balkan Mining and Minerals’ step out soil sampling program has returned with heavily anomalous levels of lithium, caesium, and tantalum and defined more broad target areas to add to its Gorge Lithium Project in the Canadian province of Ontario.
Last year’s Channel sampling at Gorge returned remarkable results up to 3.75 per cent lithium oxide from the Koshman and Nelson pegmatite showings, and soil results so far this year have continued to outlinemultiple target areas highly prospective for lithium-bearing pegmatites.
The ratios of elements all indicated an LCT environment, and the most prominent anomalies were revealed next to the Koshman spodumene pegmatites, extending over 700 metres and indicating the possible presence of multiple pegmatite dykes.
Balkan Managing Director Ross Cotton said the new findings were promising, and validated the work done to improve existing mineralisation indications.
These results span a large area and match the confirmed high-grade lithium pegmatites discovered at our nearby Koshman and Nelson pegmatite sites. Notably, the significant levels of lithium and other trace elements like Cs, Ta, and Sn suggest that LCT-type pegmatites are the reason for the surface geochemical anomalies,” Mr Cotton said.
With a collection of targets ranked by priority now in its inventory, Balkan’s next move is to carry out more surface exploration to identify the bedrock which might be the source of the anomalism and narrow further in on targets for maiden drilling.
