Burley Minerals has appointed accomplished mining executive Stewart McCallion as its new Managing Director and Chief Executive, taking over from the retiring MD Wayne Richards.

Mr McCallion, who has over 25 years of industry experience, will lead the company’s focus on emerging lithium assets in a Canadian province.

He has worked with various commodities and companies such as Hancock Prospecting, Roy Hill Holdings, Vale Inco, Lycoplyodium, and Ausgold. Burley sees him as a capable leader who can evaluate opportunities and risks while managing multi-disciplinary teams.

Burley Chairman Bryan Dixon thanked Wayne Richards for his efforts in leading the company into lithium exploration and welcomed McCallion’s solid experience.

Stewart’s Canadian background and familiarity with the terrain will be invaluable as we advance our drilling programmes at both the Chubb and Bouvier Lithium Projects in the strategic lithium province of Québec, Canada,” Mr Dixon said.

His has very broad experience as a mining executive over 25 years, complimenting the existing Board and Management team’s skills and knowledge.”

The new executive is excited to lead a team exploring lithium in a Tier 1 district. The Chubb and Bouvier Lithium Projects offer an excellent exploration platform in Québec, just 10km from Canada’s only lithium mine. Mr. McCallion is eager for this opportunity.

“Having consulted with Burley previously, I look forward to contributing, along with the very experienced team,” Mr McCallion said.

“I plan help to createsignificant shareholder value through exploration successands evaluating further value accretive acquisitions amonetising the significant existing iron assets.”

Canada remains a land of new opportunity holding immense lithium reserves estimated to be among the largest in the worlattractingd to attract new exploration to Quebec, including Rio Tinto entered entry into the province last week.

While exploration has put a spotlightednd results, Sayona Mining’s North American Lithium operations still stands as the only operating mine in the nation, a fact Burley would like to see changed as it rears its own lim assets down the road from NAL.

Burley’s first three holes at the Chubb Lithium Project all came in above the 1.2% mark, confirming high-grade lithium and marking an early success as the company finalises a full acquisition of the Bouvier Project 14 kilometres to the northwest.

Next steps

Burley expects more assay results from Chubb soon and will move forward with both Stewart McCallion and newly added lithium expert David Crook on board, with Wayne Richards staying on as an executive to oversee a smooth transition into its next stage of development.
