Cazaly Resources (ASX:CAZ) has started initial drilling for lithium at its Sundown project in the prolific James Bay area of Quebec, Canada.

Sundown lithium project extends over 260 kilometres and features more than 200 documented outcropping pegmatites.

We are very excited to finally be on the ground, after a patient wait, now we have the opportunity to explore the pegmatites of the Gladman suite, and for the very first time have them assayed for lithium mineralisation.” – Cazaly Managing Director Tara French

Cazaly will collect rock-chip samples at high-priority areas at Sundown which contain large clusters of potential pegmatite mineralisation.

The target areas have been found to have exposures of up to 1.5 kilometres in length.

About Sundown project

Sundown lithium project is in the world-class James Bay lithium province, resident to many other project and new lithium discoveries. Cazaly’s Sundown is located between Allkem’s (ASX:AKE) James Bay deposit and Patriot Battery Metals’ (ASX:PMT) Corvette lithium discovery. Cazaly sees significant potential for new lithium discoveries in James Bay, noting the limited lithium exploration that has taken place in the area.

Geology of Sundown

The geology of the Sundown project is consistent of multiple S-type intrusions, made up of granodiorite, pegmatitic granite and tonalite. These intrusions, alongside its increasing fractionation, are supportive of the development of lithium-caesium-tantalum pegmatites at Sundown.
