Galileo Mining Ltd (ASX: GAL) has identified that palladium-platinum-gold-copper-nickel grades are increasing at depth in drill assays from diamond core drilling at the Callisto discovery within the company’s 100% owned Norseman project in Western Australia.
The diamond core assays from Callisto are just starting to come in and the results are very encouraging,” Managing Director, Brad Underwood, said.
“The first results related to the massive sulphide hit in NRCD293, and today’s announcement is based on the disseminated sulphide lower zone at Callisto where 3E grades above 3.0 g/t were intercepted over a five-metre interval.
“As well as higher palladium numbers it is significant to note that the platinum, gold, copper, and nickel values are also increasing in this new zone. The lower palladium seam appears to be related to a flatter lying part of the stratigraphy where mineralisation gently dips to the east at an estimated depth of 250 metres below surface.
“The distance between the western most drill hole with significant assays (NRC309) and NRCD279 is over 500 metres. This corridor remains open in both directions and with over five kilometres of prospective rocks to explore to the north.
“Much more drilling is required to determine the full extent and grade of palladium and other metals in the Callisto region. With over 20 diamond core drill holes undertaken to date we believe that the potential for further success continues to be exceptional. We look forward to updating the market as additional results become available.”
Significant drill intersections from NRCD279;
Assays for adjacent core drill holes NRCD278 and NRCD280 are pending with assays from the RC pre-collar on NRCD278 available and shown on the section. An increase in palladium-platinum-gold- copper-nickel grades in NRCD279 appears to be related to a flatter section of the underlying stratigraphy beneath the ultramafic sill which hosts the mineralisation.
25 NQ diamond core holes have been drilled for a total of 3,699 metres. Three drill holes are twin core holes of existing RC drilling (discovery hole NRC266, NRC274, and NRC275). These drill holes will be sampled and assayed prior to a selection of core being used for metallurgical testing.
Metallurgical test work is expected to begin in early December.
All diamond core holes have been collared with RC drilling which saves time and capital.
Disseminated nickel sulphides have been discovered north of Callisto and assays are expected in early to mid-November from the most prospective of the drill holes completed in scout drilling within this new area.
