Galan Lithium’s fifth hole at the Candelas lithium brine project in Argentina has delivered outstanding results.

Initial assays from the fifth hole – located around 2.5km south of the first drill hole in the program – returned lithium grades ranging from 491 to 856 mg/l Li for 160m from 220m to 380m while impurity levels continue to return low values.

Following downhole geophysical logging, several packer tests were performed and samples collected and sent for analyses. However, operations and final sampling onsite have recently been delayed due to heavy wintry weather.

Meanwhile, Galan has recently completed the sixth drill hole – located 1.5km southeast of the fifth hole – to a depth of 422 metres after encountering basement at 419 metres.

Field results from packer tests conducted before operations had to cease encountered brines with SG ranging from 1.09 to 1.13 for the last 42 metres of the hole with the higher SG located at the top of the 42 metres section.

Upon re-commencement of operations, sampling will be completed on the fifth hole and new ascending packer tests will be performed on the sixth hole to delineate the brine horizon and its total thickness.

Galan said it was on standby and ready to re-commence operations once weather conditions clear.

Earlier this month, Galan received permits for six new drill holes at Candelas, focusing on the northern section of the project.

The granting of permits comes after Galan’s recent maiden five drill program at Candelas which included hits of 192 metres at 802 mg/l Li and 143 metres at 784 mg/l Li.

Shares in Galan (ASX: GLN) were trading at 23c on Wednesday.
