Pilbara junior resources play Artemis Resources has applied for 600km2 of tenements within 40kms of Newcrest’s highly-productive Telfer Mine, jumping in barely three hours before an application from global giant Rio Tinto.

The application, once granted, will provide Artemis with rights to prospective Pilbara land, with immediate neighbours Greatland Gold returning hits as high as 121m at 2.93g/t gold (Au) and 0.23% copper.

The geological structure being investigated by Greatland Gold runs due north into Artemis’s proposed tenements.

Artemis’s new tenement package, known as the Armada prospect, is close to operating mines and associated regional infrastructure, including sealed roads and rail networks which run directly to Port Hedland, 500km west of the site.

The existence of major mining operations in the Proterozoic Orogen such as Telfer and Nifty, coupled with the recent early stage exploration success by Greatland Gold at their Haverion discovery has provided impetus for the company to further expand its exploration holdings in the Pilbara,” Artemis CEO Wayne Bramwell said.

“The Armada Prospect sits within the well-endowed Paterson Orogen mineral province, of what may become a new region for iron oxide copper gold (IOCG) deposits,” he said.

Including the recent application, Artemis has pegged an impressive 2,400 km2 of Pilbara landholdings. The Company is a diversified explorer, advancing base, battery and precious metals projects in Western Australia.
