Multi-disciplinary engineering and construction business Avid Resources has boosted its management ranks as it seeks to take advantage of an improving resources sector.

The Perth-based company, which has more than 175 staff and is a member of AvidSys Group, has recently made two strategic hires and an international promotion.

Highly experienced mining engineer Deependra Bhardwaj has been appointed to Executive General Manager. Mr Bhardwaj has 18 years’ experience in the global mining industry, spanning strategic planning, operational, commercial, safety, technology roles.

Deependra’s deep operational and commercial experience, developed in a global career spanning Asia and Australia, is the perfect mix for our next Executive General Manager,” Avid Chairman and Managing Director Ansh Gautam said.

“I am confident his discipline and focus will deliver a culture of high standard of safety and performance for Avid Resources”.

In addition, Avid has appointed Alistair Baron as General Manager of Commercial and Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ).

Mr Baron has over 25 years of industry experience and has held senior positions with major resource production companies, including as Rail Operations Manager at BHP Iron Ore, General Manager for Towns Management Operations of Rio Tinto Iron Ore and Principal – Integrated Planning & Business Improvement at Karara Mining.

Avid Resources has also promoted Mr Andrew Youngs to General Manager of Operations, having previously managed the team’s Water division.

Mr Young has over 25 years’ experience in civil engineering relating to the planning, design and construction of water and wastewater infrastructure.

“Avid Resources continues to grow its operations across the country and our fresh leadership will deliver an acceleration in the enormous potential for value and creating much needed jobs especially in the home state of Western Australia,” Mr Gautam said.

“AvidSys Group now employs over 200 people across multiple sites within Australia.
