Balkan Mining and Minerals has moved just down the road from the aptly named 2Moz Jackpot lithium deposit, taking complete ownership of the 120 km2 Barbara Lake lithium project in Canada’s Ontario Province.
Balkan Managing Director Ross Cotton said the company was pleased to continue its expansion across a well-known spodumene-bearing pegmatite district at Georgia Lake.
The project is of particular interest due to its proximity to previously mapped areas in the
1950s and 1960s where recently significant discoveries have been made,” he said.
“We now have a significant lithium portfolio covering 120 square kilometres across 4 projects in northwestern Ontario all of which are subject to exploration over the next 6 months.
“This complements our Corvette North and Northwest projects in Quebec, where we are currently planning our maiden exploration campaign.”
With a supportive regulatory environment and vast mineral resources, Canada has seen a flurry of new lithium exploration.
Australian experts are leading the way, with companies like Sayona Mining, Patriot Battery Metals, Burley Minerals and Balkan all striking exploration success in the distant, frozen ground.
Balkan will now begin mapping and soil sampling at Barbara as the Canadian summer emerges while laying the plans for an expansive exploration campaign across its entire Canadian portfolio.
