As a decision to restart mining draws closer, Black Cat’s ongoing infill and extensional drilling of the Gabbro Vens continues to return high-grade assays from the lower parts of its wholly-owned Paulsens Gold Operation in the Eastern Pilbara.
Less than a fortnight ago, a resource upgrade brought in a quarter rise in tonnage and a 58 per cent lift in measured to indicated, and the 322-thousand-ounce resource stood at 360 per cent higher from when Black Cat acquired Paulsens in mid-2022.
The latest intercepts sit outside the upgraded resource, and drilling continues to hit into multiple mineralised lodes.
“These latest results demonstrate the upside in the Gabbro Veins at Paulsens following the recent Resource upgrade. When we acquired Paulsens in mid-2022 there was virtually no Resource for the Gabbro Veins so we are pleased with the rate of growth to 133koz at an exceptional grade of 9.2g/t Au,” Black Cat Managing Director Gareth Solly said.
“The Main Zone has similarly grown to a Resource of 154koz @ 10.7g/t Au. These two areas are likely to provide the bulk of the initial mineable resources in the Restart Study which is to date progressing as expected.”

- 1.61m @ 50.73g/t Au from 64.39m, including;
– 0.80m @ 100.00g/t Au from 65.20m (PGRD23041) - 1.73m @ 14.32g/t Au from 20.46m (PGRD23046) – extensional
Multi-commodity potential:
Paulsens could be more than one of the nation’s highest-grade gold mines. Black Cat has multiple base metal targets, a thermal coal resource at Kazput – and Australia’s third-largest antimony deposit.
Forward plan:
Black Cat has more drill results from Paulsens and regional exploration coming across multiple projects, with a potential mining restart study due ahead of a busy conference season at Noosa and Diggers & Dealers.
