Dreadnought Resources’ has identified significant high-grade potential in a 40 by 20-kilometre focus area at its multi-commodity asset in the West Australian Gascoyne.
The review into the gold potential at Mangaroon has shown heightened gold potential around the Mangaroon Shear Zone, stretching for 10 kilometres and host to numerous historical workings subject to limited drilling.
Star of Mangaroon historical post-mining intercepts:
• 4m @ 26.0 g/t Au from 4m • 7m @ 14.3 g/t Au from 7m
• 2m @ 29.8 g/t Au from 19m • 1m @ 53.0 g/t Au from 18m
• 4m @ 18.7 g/t Au from 18m • 4m @ 16.4 g/t Au from 14m
Rock chips from other historical workings:
• 74.8 g/t Au (Diamond) • 41.7 g/t Au (Two Peaks)
• 121.2 g/t Au, 179 g/t Ag (Popeye) • 53.0 g/t Au, 552 g/t Ag (Popeye)
While the Gascoyne has emerged as possibly Western Australia’s most exciting new rare earth district, Dreadnought Managing Director Dean Tuck said it remains, under minimal cover, as one of the most underexplored terrains in the state.
“The results of this review underscores our belief that this region will continue to deliver at and near surface opportunities across a range of commodities. Having now consolidated the historical workings around the Star of Mangaroon, we are well positioned to progress a significant high grade gold opportunity to our portfolio,” Mr Tuck said.
Mangaroon
Dreadnought has now been spurred to snap up the undrilled Lead Gold Mine and finalise full ownership of all significant historical workings around the Mangaroon Shear Zone.
It adds real camp scale gold mining potential to a project already boasting outcropping high-grade REE ironstones and carbonatites alongside a joint venture area host to outcropping high-tenor Ni-Cu-PGE blebby sulphides.
Forward plan
Drilling on the Yin Ironstones and C1-C7 carbonatites is ongoing, directed at converting a hulking exploration target into an upgraded rare earth resource, while metallurgical studies have also struck early success.
Following the completion of resource drilling, Dreadnought will begin gold-focused RC drilling on the numerous historical workings across the shear zone.
