Australian advanced materials company, First Graphene Limited (ASX: FGR) has received positive results from field trials of its ArmourGRAPH bucket liner provided by newGen to a major Pilbara iron ore producer.

The Armour- GRAPHTM bucket liner, containing PureGRAPH20, is being trialled by a major iron ore producer.

To date the bucket liner shows no signs of advanced wear or scalloping as would normally be experienced with the liners currently used in industry after 24 weeks of use. The client will continue the trial, with a further inspection to be undertaken in 12 weeks.

Managing Director, Craig McGuckin, said the client has also installed a second ArmourGRAPH bucket liner at the same Pilbara mine site.

He added that with this liner performing well it is expected further ArmourGRAPH liners will be installed with other newGen clients in the near future.

PureGRAPH enhanced products continue to provide excellent performance in trials being conducted by this major iron ore producer,” Mr McGuckin said.

“We are encouraged by these trials, as only First Graphene has the capacity to deliver high volumes of high-quality graphene to users when they adopt graphene into their products.”

Mr McGuckin said the addition of graphene to elastomers can have a dramatic impact on their mechanical and physical properties. This can include, for example, an improvement of up to 500% in abrasion resistance, an increase in tensile strength by 40% and tear strength by around 50%. These enhancements can be achieved with just a 1% blend of graphene, by volume, to the rubber compound.
