Warrego Energy Limited (ASX: WGO) has confirmed advises that Hancock Energy has requested the appointment of three of its nominee Directors to the Warrego Board.
This follows Hancock Energy becoming the controlling shareholder of the company with a relevant interest in approximately 52.33% of the issued capital in the company and in line with its statement of intentions for Warrego as contained in the Hancock Bidder’s Statement.
Consequently, the Board has appointed Messrs Ian Plimer, Gerhardus Veldsman and Stuart Johnston as nominee Directors of Warrego, with immediate effect.
Ian Plimer (Non-Executive Chairman)
Mr Plimer has been a director of numerous ASX, TSX and AIM-listed minerals, oil and gas companies, is a director of unlisted companies within the Hancock Prospecting Pty Ltd group of companies and has worked in the exploration and mining industry. Mr Plimer is a director of Senex Holdings Pty Ltd and Senex Energy Pty Ltd. He is Emeritus Professor of earth sciences at The University of Melbourne having had Chairs at Melbourne, Munich, Newcastle and Adelaide.
Gerhardus Veldsman (Non-Executive Director)
Mr Veldsman is currently Chief Executive Officer (Operations) for the Hancock Prospecting Pty Ltd group of companies. Mr Veldsman has extensive resource industry experience spanning various commodities and different business operations in Australia and overseas. He brings substantial expertise in major capital projects and has led several high value strategic operations planning and implementation initiatives. Previously, Mr Veldsman was Chief Executive Officer at Roy Hill and fundamental in driving that business’ growth. Over a long career as an executive and operations manager, he has overseen resource development and optimisation, and large-scale supporting infrastructure operations.
Stuart Johnston (Non-Executive Director)
Mr Johnston has more than 30 years’ experience in international and Australian natural resources, energy and infrastructure businesses. Mr Johnston has served as Chief Executive Officer of Squadron Energy and DBP Transmission which owned and operated the Dampier to Bunbury Natural Gas Pipeline. He is a former Vice President Strategy, Portfolio & Planning with Shell Upstream International in the Hague. He spent 20 years with Shell working in Australia, the Netherlands, the USA, the UK and throughout Asia, involved with pipeline operations, offshore construction, LNG, energy pricing, M&A and business development. Mr Johnston is a director of Senex Holdings Pty Ltd and Senex Energy Pty Ltd. Mr Johnston has a Bachelor of Engineering degree from the University of Nottingham and an MBA from the London Business School.
