Kalium Lakes Limited (ASX: KLL) has reported record breaking results from drill holes completed at its recently acquired 10 Mile West tenement, at the Beyondie Sulphate of Potash Project (BSOPP) in Western Australia.
Managing Director, Brett Hazelden, said some of the grades are the highest ever recorded at 10 Mile with potassium grades up to 12,900 mg/L, equivalent to a SOP grade of 28,750 mg/L.
Mr Hazelden said that importantly the brine has Low Impurity Levels with Na:K ratios averaging around 7.4.
“This figure is key, as it means less Sodium Chloride (NaCl or table salt) is being produced and will result in lower waste salt disposal requirements,” he said.
“These grades are exceptional and continue to demonstrate that the Beyondie SOP Project has the highest-grade potassium brine resource in Australia.
“For any mining operation grade is king. For a brine resource this means smaller pumping volumes, less trenches and bores, less evaporation pond area which, as a direct result, leads to lower capital and operating costs,” Mr Hazelden said.
“Work on sampling brine across the lake surface is due to commence in the coming weeks and this sampling, in combination with the drilling results, is expected to result in an update to the Mineral Resources and in turn, Ore Reserves.
These grades provide future upside to the already compelling BSOPP story, with first production expected at the end of next year,” he said.
10 Mile West is strategically located next to a granted Mining Lease, purification facilities and infrastructure, allowing future potential to extend the trench and bore network (currently under construction) for brine extraction at the BSOPP.
Kalium Lakes is on target to be the first SOP developer in Australia and to meet a large market demand both here and in New Zealand.
