Manas Resources Limited (ASX: MSR) is preparing for a new drilling campaign to follow up the promising results of a large geophysical programme at the Mbengué gold project (MGP) in Côte d’Ivoire, West Africa.

The recently completed, 23 sq. km Induced Polarisation (IP) geophysical survey, identified six large -scale anomalies with strike lengths up to 6km+ at Mbengué.

CEO, Chris MacKenzie, said the majority of the area where the anomalies are located have been untested by drilling.

However, that is about to change with a programme of air core and auger drilling to better define the resource potential of identified targets.

The company has also begun a regional soil sampling programme over the whole of the recently granted PR0857 (Dielle) licence to the north of the Mbengué permit with results expected in April 2020.

The MGP is located in the highly prospective Senoufo greenstone belt of northern Côte d’Ivoire in close proximity to some of the region’s largest mines.

It covers ~647 sq. km and is located 6km north of Barrick’s Tongon mine (~4.5Moz Au), ~27km SE of Terranga’s Wahgnion mine (>2.5Moz Au), 40km southeast of Perseus Mining Limited’s Sissingué mine (~1Moz Au) and 45km southeast of Resolute Mining Limited’s world-class Syama mine (11.5 Moz Au).

Mr MacKenzie said that following the company’s 2019 drill programme, it was decided that to increase the potential of a sizable gold discovery along strike from the encouraging drill results returned from the Madala and Turaco targets, extension of the existing IP survey areas would be undertaken.

The orientation IP survey at the Madala target gave a strong chargeability-resistivity anomaly where drilling had previously returned 7m grading 7.5g/t Au.

Mr MacKenzie said these anomalies reflect the presence of silicification and sulphidation, both of which are strongly associated with the gold mineralisation drilled to date at the MGP.
