Ordell Minerals (ASX:ORD) has received significant assay results from recent, shallow diamond drilling at its Barimaia Gold Project, located near Mount Magnet in the Murchison region of Western Australia.
The limited diamond drilling programme of 426 metres was completed in November and December of 2024 as part of an ongoing program to systematically test the currently defined 2.5km strike extent of gold mineralisation at Barimaia at shallow depths.
Results from the program continue to confirm shallow, open pit potential, with a coherent zone of gold mineralisation being defined on the western side of the McNabs East prospect within an extensive gold system that remains untested at depth and remains open along strike.
Drilling completed on section 585,550E returned significant high-grade gold mineralisation in 24BADD004 (22.70m @ 4.09g/t Au from 71.3m) and 24BADD003 (22.80m @ 1.78g/t Au from 62.2m).
The intercept of 5.1m @ 1.66g/t Au from 87.0m returned in 24BADD006 is an extension of mineralisation reported in 24BARC057, with the combined intercept now reporting 42.1m @ 0.95g/t Au from 50.0m.
Strong gold mineralisation was returned from 24BADD007 (20.40m @ 0.55g/t Au from 98.6m and 12.00m @ 1.85g/t Au from 152.0m including 5.78m @ 3.36g/t Au from 158.22m) on section 585,640E.
Gold mineralisation is interpreted to plunge shallowly to the east, striking east-northeast with drilling of the McNabs East western zone to form part of the large drilling programme commencing in February.
“This is a great way to start the New Year with assays showing that the limited diamond drilling completed in November and December last year has intersected broad zones of high-grade gold mineralisation, helping to confirm the orientation, lithologies and geometry of the significant mineralisation discovered on the western side of the McNabs East Prospect,” Managing Director, Michael Fowler, said.
“Further extensional and in-fill drilling will now commence at Barimaia in February to follow up the wide zones of shallow gold mineralisation intersected within the targeted felsic intrusion host rock. A program of ~5,000m of RC drilling is being finalised using information gained from the diamond drilling programme.
“A number of high-grade gold results have been returned from the three drill programmes completed since we listed in July 2024 and they are all open at depth and along strike, showing the potential for shallow open pits at Barimaia. This is a very encouraging outcome which continues to support our view that Barimaia has the potential to create significant value for our shareholders as drilling advances this year.”
