Former 2012 winner of WA’s 40 under 40 business award Leigh Hughes has been appointed to the board of TSX-V listed cobalt, nickel and copper prospector BlueBird Battery Metals (TSXV: BATT).

Exploring in the Mid West region of Western Australia as well as the Yukon in Canada, BlueBird Battery Metals will add Hughes, who is an integrated marketing professional with more than 15 years’ experience.

Hughes has worked as Chief Executive Officer and a director of COMVERJ a boutique marketing firm since January 2003.

More recently Hughes has been appointed Executive Chairman of Next Green Wave, a company established to produce and supply medical and recreational cannabis products to patients throughout the State of California.

Hughes was able to bring substantial Australian investment into NGW, with the IPO supported by major funds, including BW Equities, Trident Capital and Regal Funds Management.

Next Green Wave listed on the Canadian Stock Exchange yesterday to great fanfare with shares trading 40% above the raising price.

The addition of Hughes follows further changes to the management and board of BlueBird, with Nav Dhaliwal replacing Peter Ball as Chief Executive Officer last month.

Mr Dhaliwal is currently President and Chief Executive Officer of Bonterra Resources and has strong experience developing junior companies.

Having founded a number small ventures, Dhaliwal brings valuable business relationships with international analysts, brokers and investment bankers from Canada, the United States and Asia.
