Tyranna Resources (ASX: TYX) has successfully drilled into several lithium-rich pegmatites at its Namibe Lithium Project, located in Angola. The project is a joint venture between Tyranna (72%) and Sinomine Resources Group (10%), which also acts as a funding partner.
The company recently completed an 817-metre diamond core drilling program, consisting of 11 drill holes, at the project towards the end of 2024. Significant lithium intersections were made at the Loop and Muvero prospects, including the discovery of spodumene-bearing pegmatites, a key source of lithium.
At the Loop Prospect, drill hole NDDH018 encountered 15.72 metres at 1.58% Li2O from surface, while NDDH019 returned 10.9 metres at 2.22% Li2O, and NDDH020 intersected 15.9 metres at 0.99% Li2O, all from surface. These results highlight the presence of high-grade lithium mineralisation at the site.
At the Muvero Prospect, the company also recorded impressive results. Drill hole NDDH010 intersected 5.69 metres at 1.52% Li2O from 28.45 metres and 4.4 metres at 1.47% Li2O from 44.1 metres. Additionally, the same hole returned a notable intersection of pollucite, a caesium-rich mineral, with 4.05 metres at 8.46% Cs2O from 28.45 metres.
Managing Director David Crook remarked, “Well mineralised lithium pegmatites have been intersected at two of our targets now, however, lithium anomalism has been returned from rock chip analyses at eight additional locations which remain to be tested in future drilling programmes.” He also highlighted the significance of pollucite at the Muvero Project, noting that Sinomine’s extensive involvement in the global caesium market adds value to the discovery.
Tyranna Resources has submitted applications for Prospecting Titles covering new lithium and base metal targets, aligning with the company’s broader strategy of acquiring and developing demand-driven metals in Angola. The results of the drilling program further solidify the potential of the Namibe Lithium Project as a key player in the region’s growing lithium sector.
