Greenstone Resources Limited (ASX:GSR) has intersected multiple zones of significant visible gold in diamond drilling at the company’s 100% owned Burbanks Gold Project, 9 kilometres south of Coolgardie, Western Australia.
Hole BBRC338D is part of a 5,000 metre drill programme at Burbanks North, forming part of the broader 6,500 metre drill campaign covering both Burbanks North and the Burbanks Mining Centre (including the Birthday Gift and Main lode mines).
This most recent hole shows three discrete zones of mineralisation with significant visible gold observed within a broader sheared zone extending over 42 metres down hole, exhibiting strong biotite, chlorite, and silica alteration.
Geological logging shows a zone of intense shear movement which has allowed for significant volumes of mineralising fluids to pass through the mafic host rocks.
Significant intercepts include: 1.5 metres @ 43.7 g/t Au from 405.9 metres, including: 0.5 metres @ 113.0 g/t Au from 405.9 metres; 2.2 metres @ 17.1 g/t Au from 399.8 metres; 0.6 metres @ 54.1 g/t Au from 400.1 metres; 1.05 metres @ 22.4 g/t Au from 421.0 metres; and 0.6 metres @ 33.3 g/t Au from 421.4 metres.
Following two new discoveries late last year which served to extend the known mineralised strike horizon at Burbanks to over 4.5km, we are pleased to also confirm that mineralisation at Burbanks North remains open to at least 250 metres below surface,” Managing Director and CEO, Chris Hansen, said.
“Importantly, the recent intercept in BBRC338D, in conjunction with the historical shallow drilling already completed, continues to reaffirm the new exploration model for Burbanks North and the potential for future high-grade resource additions here.
“With an additional 15 holes planned for Burbanks North and the rig already drilling, we look forward to updating shareholders.”
Further results from diamond drill hole BBRC336D served to confirm the continuity of mineralisation, returning: 6.0 metres @ 2.05g/t Au from 248.25 metres, including 2.7 metres @ 3.82g/t Au from 250 metres.
Outside of the Burbanks Mining Centre, Greenstone controls over 5.0 kilometres of the highly prospective Burbanks Shear Zone which has seen limited exploration below 150 metres, despite hosting known mineralisation, including the shallow Burbanks North Deposit of 359,998 tonnes @ 1.8g/t Au for 20,400 ounces (Inferred).
This under explored horizon below 150 metres forms the basis of the current drill campaign at Burbanks North, with BBRC338D targeting the down dip extensions of a new high-grade discovery (see ASX:GSR 15/12/2021) serving to reaffirm the continuity of high-grade mineralisation beyond the Northern Fault which was previously thought to terminate mineralisation north of Main Lode.
