Larvotto Resources has put a bow on over 2300 metres of RC drilling and finished a multi-commodity campaign over its Eyre project near the town of Norseman, the southern gateway to Western Australia.
The campaign successfully tested broad lithium anomalies at the Merivale Prospect, held within area known to hold pegmatite intrusions akin to Liontown’s 14.9Mt @ 1.0% Li2O Buldania resource directly to the south.
Drilling at Merivale also tested an ultramafic unit which has produced a high geochemical response for nickel similar in character to Galileo Mining’s nearby palladium-platinum-gold-rhodium-copper-nickel discovery which has continued to deliver high-grade returns.
And at the Mt Norcott Prospect, drilling was targeting robust nickel and copper geochemical anomalies associated with a Jimberlana Dyke known to host nickel, copper and PGE mineralisation.
Larvotto Managing Director Ron Heeks said that drilling had significantly intersected multiple pegmatite zones of thickness up to 30 metres downhole.
Dips of the pegmatite zones varied from quite shallow to the east to near vertical. We look forward to compiling the geological information collected with the analytical results as they come in. Unfortunately, due to road access issues experienced, we were not able to undertake the initial testing of the Dickie Dyke Prospect,” Mr Heeks said.
Forward plan
Initial drilling of Dickie Dyke and its contained nickel and chrome anomaly will be a focus for the next round of drilling at Eyre, homed in from the geological interpretation of various zones encountered in this program.
Drill samples bagged as individual metres and four metre composites are at the lab, with all assays submitted and results expected as soon as next month.
Early metallurgy has also delivered promising results for at the Merivale South, and further testwork is underway to determine the potential upside of rare earth mineralisation uncovered at the prospect.
Larvotto also have drilling underway at Mt Isa, targeting two highly prospective areas identified from regional geochemistry and field mapping in the famed Queensland copper district.
